May 31 - Pool Party!

We went to a pool party at my niece Allie's Nini/Papa's house to celebrate her 16th birthday! The date/time were originally scheduled for Katie's 2 year birthday party, but the c-section moved those plans out a few weeks.

We had LOTS of fun, and katie got to "swim" in the pool with Daddy. It'll be good to get her into swim lessons in the fall with her Grandma so she can really have some fun in the pool!

May 30, part II - Visit from G'rents

Here are some pictures of Katie outside playing bubbles (no surprises there!!) and of the Grandparents Gaylor visiting us on Saturday. Katie enjoyed showing them her Leapster game. She's so funny-- There's an alphabet game on it where she needs to touch given letters with the attached pen. A few times now, she's been told to press the letter "W". She would have trouble finding the letter "W", so she turned the game around and selected the letter "M"! We thought that was pretty smart!

May 30 - Our girls!

This will be short and sweet-- Just wanted to post some pictures of our girls. Katie has been having such a WONDERFUL time with her Grammy Turner, and they seem as tight as they can be! She has also adjusted remarkably well to a new baby sister and a gimped up Mommy so far.

I'll try to write more later. I already feel bad that I haven't captured the many wonderful experiences we've had in the short week since our lives again changed.

Maggie is a doll and sleeps most of the time. Nursing is going remarkably well-- at her 2-day post-hospital appointment, she was already nearly back up to her birth weight (they usually hope the baby has gotten there by their 2 week appointment!)

I'm feeling pretty good, especially come medicine time :-) My c-section looks great and seem to be healing well. Just have to be careful with Katie-- I had to pick her up a few times today, and my incision area is a litle sore for that. She was in crisis mode trying to make a poopie, and I just didn't feel like I could NOT pick her up to sit with me. I'll take it easier today and just try to get a little walking in (like, to the mailbox and back) so I can get a *little* exercise in. I know it's baby steps after a c-section. I'm amazed at how remarkably well I feel.

Even though I'm not getting much sleep, the sleep I am getting seems to be of fair quality. I haven't had to have anyone give Maggie a bottle yet, which is good. Hopefully we can put that off until I'm truly desperate to sleep.

Our biggest sleep issues with Maggie are that she doesn't like to be swaddled (Katie was Queen Swaddler) and she sleeps best ON someone. She and I have spent the last 2 nights in my WONDERFUL glider (I will be forever grateful to Judy for that wonderful gift from when I was prego w/ Katie) Maggie will sleep for hours on me (or anyone) I *think* she'll even sleep in her bassinet, as long as she's unswaddled. We'll just have to adapt as she gets a little bigger. I think tonight, maybe we'll try putting her in there unswaddled. I'll have to read up on that, because my biggest fear is that she'll end up with her arm over her face!

Again, I just want to say I'm SO PROUD of how well Katie has adjusted to the changes. We knew she's been a fairly adaptable and resilient child all along, but this is a lot of change for her!

I'll try to be a bit better about blogging now that my belly's empty. (right)

I just am so full of love for my girls. I now truly understand a parent's capacity to love all of her children. Maybe it's a hormonal high, but I just feel so warm and fuzzy for my babies. OK, If I write any more, I'm gonna start crying.

Think I'll go write some Thank You notes instead :-)

May 29 - Bubbles and Flowers

Here are some pictures of Katie enjoying a LOVELY warm spring day outside with Grammy and our dog Max. She loved playing bubbles and planting flowers with Grammy, and making sure Max got water to drink (using the buckets you see in the slide shows)

May 28 - Pictures with the girls

Here are some pictures of Katie and Maggie, including a few pictures of Maggie's first bath at home. She wasn't a big fan, and Katie had to cover her ears against Maggie's protests!

May 18 - Golfing at 40 weeks!

Here are some pictures from golf this afternoon. The weather started out quite warm but clouds and a chilly wind was upon us by hole #3!

I did alright golfing today and had lots of fun. My scores are still better than pre-pregnancy this early in the season.

These are the times I will really miss the belly.

May 11 - Childhood pleasures

This morning I couldn't help pondering when we lose our unbridled joy. I look at these pictures of Katie and miss these simpler times.

We had a nice weekend with Katie. These pictures are of Katie helping mommy plant flowers, digging in the dirt, and part of her newest favorite pastime, "playing bubbles"

Katie gave me a very nice Mother's Day present-- Steve Miller tickets. The concert is at the Edgefield on July 12, which is 3 days before our wedding anniversary. Probably use that to celebrate our anniversary.

Kevin gave me a nice present, too-- I didn't change a single diaper!! :-) I also got a nice afternoon nap and got to do a little more nesting. My car is ready for baby, and our room is more or less ready.

Enjoy the pictures and the slideshow

May 10 - Mother's Day

Here are some pictures from Mother's Day. I managed to put Katie's hair in a ponytail, but that only lasted about 30 minutes. I think with Maggie, we'll start putting bows/ribbons/hair bands in her hair from day 1! :-)

Below are some fun pictures we took of Katie playing "bubbles" at Grandma & Grandpa's on Mommy's Day
