May 31 - This Can't End Well...

The car seat was tipped onto its back, and I decided to climb into it, which had the predictable result of sending me head over keister. Which Daddy didn't manage to capture on film (I was too quick for him!)

Once I recovered from my semi-traumatic moment, I calmed myself by doing my yoga stretches. Max joined me in the Down Dog.

I had a great day today. Napped pretty well. Had FOUR dookies (WOW!!!) After my first nap, I joined mom and dad outside. I hung out in the Exersaucer supervising them as they worked in the back yard. It was an hour well spent, for me anyway. Mommy was outside for at least 2 hours and daddy was outside 3 or more, I believe. They're about 60% done weeding. Now they have to plant some bulbs and get a heapload of bark dust to cover every thing up!!

That's about it today. I may post pics from the garden later.

May 30 - Busy, Busy Day

My goodness, what a busy day I had! It started like this...

It ended like this...

In between was a lot of playing, eating, a field trip to see Grandpa's new office, a visit to the g'rents' house, a nice long walk in their neighborhood, a spirited (messy) dinner, a bath, and a car ride home in which I fell asleep about 10 minutes before mommy pulled into the garage.

May 29 - Another Trip to the Zoo (and the weather couldn't be more different!!)

Mommy and I met Renae and Alyssa at the zoo this morning. Despite the cool drizzly weather and the zillions of school kids there, I had a good time! We saw lots of neat animals, and mommy took some video. Mostly of me eating Cheerios. Not exactly a wild animal!

Mommy took me to G'ma's house after the zoo. We were gonna take her to get a pedicure at Auntie Cyndi's spa. I didn't really get a chance to nap. This was unfortunate, because I ended up being a squirmy worm at Auntie C's spa. Good thing mommy brought a stroller. She took me for a nap to distract me while G'ma got her toes gussied up.

After that, we dropped g'ma off and then went to pick up Max from the Vet. Poor Max. He had 8 teeth pulled. He was pretty sore and Mommy is gonna have to give him anti-biotics every night and morning for a whole week. Not fun for either one of them!!

May 28 - Those Teeth Just Never Stop A'Comin'!

These pictures are unrelated to the subject line, but Daddy took them on Sunday, and I think they're so fun. I greatly enjoyed my Blueberry Pancakes, and I was quite expressive about it.

I've been having such a tough time sleeping during the night and during the day recently. My naps have been nothing to write home about. I think I've been waking up every morning around 5 a.m. with the birds that sing in the Cedars outside our home. They certainly wake mommy and daddy. They've tried sleeping with a fan on in their room, which helps only a little. But, this blog isn't about them, it's about ME!
I think the other reason why I'm not sleeping is my mouth has been very sore. I have another tooth that popped through tonight, and I think it is gonna keep on comin' through, at least according to what Mommy says. Sure does smart. That makes Tooth #5, so I'm sure #6 will be along shortly.
Grandma has been so good trying to get me to nap. She even let me sleep on her for 2.5 hours this afternoon. Thank you Grandma!!!

That's about all I got... I'm pretty tuckered out tonight.

No special reason for this post. Not even sure I remember what happened today :-) But I like these pictures, so I'm posting 'em!

May 25 - Queen of the Naps... and a BBQ

Apparently I had some catching up to do in regards to sleep. I took a 3 hr and a 2+ hr nap today (WOW). The 2+ hour nap through off our schedule, and we were a little late to the g'rents for the bbq. I didn't get to taste the bbq shredded beef sandwiches, but they looked VERY yummy. Mommy sure liked her sandwich and baked beans and tater salad. That Grandma is some great cook!

Barb and Bob Howard came to the bbq, and it was so nice to see them. It's been far too long since I've seen Mr. H. I see Mrs. H. sometimes when she stops by to visit g'ma.

Barb brought cupcakes with chocolate frosting. They were so yummy, according to Mommy. I let Mommy have mine (yes, that means she had TWO). Mommy also brought her first batch of homemade ice cream (vanilla) Everyone thought it tasted very yummy.

Very nice day over all! I ended up getting home a little past my bedtime, but I think I'll sleep just fine tonight.

Tomorrow I get to spend time with Grandma while mom and dad golf. I can't wait until I'm big enough to golf!

May 24 - Farmers Market(s)

Well, we had a very nice afternoon. We went to the Battle Ground Farmer's Market. It's an extremely small Farmer's Market, but it is early in the season and there isn't much produce yet, so the vendors were mostly selling crafts, preserves, and fresh eggs and hand-crafted chocolates. Mom & Dad had to both buy something from that vendor. yum yum!

We then went to the Vancouver Farmer's Market. They had a few more vendors with some fresh fruits/vegetables, several small bakery vendors selling artisan breads, there were many food vendors and of course Kettle Korn. Asparagus seems to be one of the first fresh vegetables of the season. Several farmers had that available. Also available were all kinds of beautiful fresh cut flowers, potted flowers, and some herb/vegetable plants. Momma coulda gone hog wild, but she's not ready to plant anything yet. Something about being to busy with the baby (me). I dunno. I think she'd just rather be doing anything other than working in the yard. We had such a nice time walking around there and around Esther Short Park a few times. We stopped at Starbucks so Mom and Dad could have a Frap and I could have a diaper change. We all felt better after that!

The weather was very pleasant, mid-70's, so Mommy let me dip my foot in the fountain in Esther Short Park. The water was brrrrrr cold, but I didn't mind too much!

We got home so late in the afternoon that I didn't go down for my afternoon nap until around 5! I slept until 6 (very late!!!), but I still was in bed by around 8:30.

I had some good eats yesterday. For breakfast, Mommy made blueberry pancakes, and I had about 1.5 of 'em!! Along with strawberries & bananas. For lunch, I had pasta stars with cooked carrots, broccoli, and peas. And Watermelon/strawberries/bananas, of course.

For dinner, mommy tried to feed me some of Uncle Ross' leftover pot roast, but I wanted nothing of it. So, I had peas. And String Cheese. And watermelon, and strawberries...... All that fruit, it's no wonder my "pipes" are no longer clogged!!

Mommy gave me a nice bath in the kitchen sink (finally following in grandma's footsteps), and I liked that VERY much. It feels a little safer being in that smaller tub, rather than my bath tub!

I'll post some pictures from our day, soon.

Tomorrow we're going to g'rents for a bbq. Sounds like it'll be indoors, because it's supposed to rain and rain and rain!

May 23 - I scream, You Scream, Mama Screams for an Ice Cream Machine!

What an exciting Day. FIRST, mommy had set the bread machine so that we'd have hot french bread when we woke up. THEN, Mommy made French toast with said bread. I had a whole huge piece, minus the crust, of course. To quote Rachel Ray, it was "Delish!!" I also had a heap-load of watermelon and strawberries.

After naps, etc were out of the way and Daddy finished work for the day, we went to run our errands. First stop was Costco. We don't recommend trying to gas up there at the beginning of a holiday weekend! We made it through the line in about 15 minutes, which wasn't too bad, all things considered!

We then went inside and did a little shopping. Mommy got her Mother's Day Present from Daddy... an Ice Cream Maker!! She's not so sure why she wanted one so badly, it's not like she eats tons of ice cream. But, it'll be good to have fresh, preservative free ice cream this summer. Maybe I'LL even get to try some. MAYBE.

Daddy then dropped Mommy and me off at Ross' house. We hung out there with him while Daddy went to the Social Security office to get my SS Card fixed. My name was misspelled, oops! Then he picked up some items at the grocery store so Mommy could make ice cream.

I think I looked pretty cool in Uncle Ross' hat.

We had a yummy dinner at Ross/Lynn's. Ross' famous Pot Roast. I preferred the fresh fruit they had, but I'll learn. Mommy and Daddy LOVED it!

Lynn let me try some fresh whipped cream and Strawberry shortcake until mommy put the Kibosh on that. Mean mommy! I love her anyway...

Uncle Ross got Lynn a new Kitten for their 6-month anniversary. I was very curious about the kitty, Chloe. She, however, was a bit wary of me!!

Nice day!

May 23 - Milestones

I nearly forgot to mention my new milestones...

I'm cutting a new tooth up top (this makes tooth #5, and I'm sure #6 will be long shortly)

Today I learned how to "blow kisses", and I do it quite well

Today I crawled up 2-4 steps in slow pursuit of the new Kitty Uncle Ross gave to Auntie Lynn. I hear it was like watching a snail race, but it was exciting to my folks none-the-less! The Kitty, Chloe, didn't think much of it, though!

May 22 - An Outing With Mama!

I had a great day today! You may not know it by the pictures I chose to post, but I had a great outing with Mommy today. After my very long nap (3 hours!!), we drove down to her office where we met 'NaeNae and walked about a mile up to a Thai restaurant called "Typhoon" where we had lunch with their friend LeAnn. It was the first time I met LeAnn. She is very nice, and VERY pregnant! It brought back a lot of memories of when I was inside mommy's tummy. LeAnn is Due between June 13 and June 16 (the date moved in a bit)

I enjoyed being at the restaurant very much and had a great time sharing my food with the floor and talking to people on the other side of the restaurant. The restaurant was kinda loud, so I made sure I talked loud enough so people could hear me!

Anyway, here are some pictures Daddy took of me this morning in my crib. I am so happy in the mornings, I'm a delight to Mom and Dad!

I was a big help when Mom was folding laundry. I would hand her clothes so she could fold them. I know that socks go on my feet (not my nose like daddy sometimes says!!), so when I would grab those from the clean clothes pile, I would put them at my feet. Mommy got the hint and put them on my feet. She put 2 socks on my left leg and 4 on my right. Made it a little hard to get around, but I didn't mind. It was fun!

May 20 - Batter Up!

Grandma and Grandpa took me to my cousin Joey's t-ball game this evening. I had the best time. It was in Ridgefield, at Abram's Park. Mommy and Daddy met us there. I had a great time crawling around on the grass. It was SOOOOOO chilly! Strange weather we've had in the last week. It's too bad Mom & Dad left the camera at home, because the ball players were fun to watch and I was especially cute!

I had a good day at g'rents today. I did the scary hyperventilating thing when grandma gave me a bath. Grandma got me through it. Mommy will be glad to discuss this w/ Doctor Bader in a few weeks, to confirm it is normal.

May 19

I was a little feverish today. It seems I'm cutting my upper teeth. My gums are quite tender. Given that I didn't feel so hot, I didn't eat very well for breakfast or lunch, and I was very cuddly. I took a nap on G'pa, which mommy said was ok because I was feeling out of sorts. Mommy, G'ma and I went for a TERRIFIC walk in the afternoon-- over an hour! Mommy feels good about getting some exercise in. It was probably a mild stroll for G'ma (she can walk like the wind!), but it was an OK pace for Mommy. She managed to get a little flush from the humidity :-)

That's about all I got. I was tired tonight and went down w/ no issues a little after 8. I'm such a good girl!

May 18 - 28th Anniversary of Mt. St. Helens

Today was a better day than yesterday, heatwise, but it was still warm! I had a good time with Mommy and Daddy today. Mommy took me for a walk before breakfast (which was a Kashi blueberry waffle & strawberries, YUM) I then had a great nap while mommy and daddy worked in the yard and caught up on a few chores. The yard will be a long work in progress. Mommy has been spending too much time with me and no time with the yard, so the grassy weeds have a stronghold in the back yard!!

After my nap and lunch (string cheese, peas, & ras/strawberries & watermelon), we went to Home Depot to try to find some ceiling fans and look at paint and get some garden stuff. I was less-than-interested in the whole excursion, though I did like interacting with the customers there, who fawned over me (of course)

We next to Costco, where mommy & daddy spent most of the time carrying me around while they shopped.

I tried to nap when I got home (I was SO tired), but that lasted maybe 30 minutes. poor me. I did have yummy Kraft Mac&Cheese & Peas for dinner, and I enjoyed that very much. Mommy felt a little guilty about giving me Kraft, but I didn't mind too much.

I had fun walking between my parents. I'm so close to going solo. I just need a little more balance and to not get too excited walking-- that's usually when I face plant. I liked petting Max, too. I'm learning to be a little more gentle with him.

That's all for now... I'm going nite'nite!

May 17th - Katie in the Pool!

Here are some pictures Daddy took of me playing in my makeshift pool in the front yard. Depite the water being pretty chilly, I had a great time hanging with Max and my folks

May 17 - WooWee Doggie, Was It Hot Tonight!!

Once I fell asleep, I slept pretty good until 6:45 this morning. Mommy and Daddy kept a fan running in my room all night to try to sir the air.

It was a very unusual night in Ridgefield. Normally we get a very nice evening breeze, and it was quite windy yesterday afternoon. The air was still all night, though. Mommy might have to invest in some more fans!!

May 16 - The Zoo is a Zoo!!!!!!

Mommy and I went to the zoo today, and it really WAS a zoo!!! It seemed like every school district had an outing there this morning. It was SO PACKED!!! Despite the maddeningly huge crowds, we had a good time. We met Christian and Nicole and their 2 ea kids. It was VERY hot. The temperature in Portland reached at least 98 degrees. We went early when it was in the 70's and it was in the 80's by the time we left the park around 12:30.

Mommy will attach pictures after she gets 'em loaded onto the computer (don't hold your breath!!) :-)

Mommy then took me to her office so she could pick up a couple of things, change my diaper and clothes, and to wash the sunscreen off my face (I had a bit of a reaction to the sun screen and the right side of my face was really splotchy) It was nice to see her co-workers, although we missed a few I would have liked to see.

After we left Con-way, we went to the G'rents. Mommy gave me some of the good milk and G'pa came home while I was nursing. Mommy tried to put me down for a nap but I was a little too warm. I didn't cry, but it was obvious I was not gonna take a nap. So, grandpa worked his mojo and I ended up with about an hour tummy time. I woke up really sweaty!!

Mommy was shopping, so Grandma tried to give me some applesauce, which I did not want, so she ended up giving me a bottle. I have started to become a discriminating eater and pretty much had just cheerios most of the day. I'm starting to assert myself when it comes to food, and I'm starting to reject things that I've really liked in the past I guess I like to mix it up for my folks and g'folks. I don't like being predictable :-)

Mommy and I went to the grocery store after we left the g'rents. We picked up some organic strawberries, meats & cheeses and other good picnic food. I was not a big fan of turkey or swiss cheese, but I loved my peas and strawberries, so I definitely didn't 'go hungry'.

Pretty soon I will get cleaned up and head for bed. It's so very hot in the house today, I sure hope I'm able to sleep OK.

May 13 - Mommy Speaks

I can't believe Mommy is sharing this with you, but here's a story she tells in her words...

I got home from picking up Katie last night & I let the dogs out. They come back inside, and I'm watching Katie playing with her toys when I look down and see Missy crapping right in front of me. I yell at her to stop and quickly shoo her outside. I pick up the nugget she had deposited on the floor. I go to the door and let the dog in the house again, and then I go to wash my hands.

I hear Katie say, "ooh" and I look at her.
(you can see where this is going)

She has her arm outstretched and something dark that was NOT a toy in it. I run to her and quickly say, "Thank You" and take the poop that I HADN'T seen on the floor out of her hand rush to put it in the toilet. I think I then started rinsing my hand and realized, "I have to get her before she puts HER hands in her mouth!" I pick her up, and in the meantime she has grabbed this cute plush frog my girlfriend gave me one year and is holding onto that with her dirty hand. I trick her into giving it to me and then try to keep her hands OUT of her mouth and start washing them. As soon as I put soap on one hand, she has it in her mouth, and when I put soap on her other hand, she does the same. At least the soap was an anti-bacterial foam and she did it in the right order, soapy hand before dirty hand. :-)

I finally get 'em at least partially washed. I then go and brush that girl's teeth!!! YUK!!!!!

To top it off, somewhere during this whole fiasco, I was vented my extreme frustration at Missy. I loudly said, "Missy, I am SO MAD AT YOU"... The volume and emotion upset Katie. I looked at her face as it started to twist into a cry.... Bad mommy!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Katie here... It just figures that something like that happened when Mommy is at her most tired. I had trouble sleeping the night before (our first night back in town), so Mom and I were both up several times Monday night!
May 11 Mother's Day, Lunch with Uncle Monty
Mommy had a wonderful Mommy's Day (which she gets to celebrate because of MEEEEEE!!!) Grandma gave mommy a beautiful necklace and a wonderful note that made mommy tear up like a wimp :-) Daddy and I both gave mommy wonderful and appropriate cards, and she loved them very much. Mommy and Daddy are still in negotiations for her Mother's Day gift :-)
We had a delightful afternoon. We met Uncle Monty, his daughter Pam & her husband and daughter and Monty's care-giver Laurie and friend Annie for lunch at his favorite Mexican restaurant. Ava and I made a MESS, but we had a great time doing it! Here is a picture of Monty, Grandma, Mommy and me. I was so happy to see Uncle Monty!
May 8 - I'm Goin' To Disneyland (Sort Of!)
Grandma, Mommy and I went for a stroll from our hotel in Anaheim. Before too long, we found ourselves at Disneyland. Since I'm too little to really enjoy Disneyland, we did something they knew I would enjoy. We went into Downtown Disney, which was FREE to get into and therefore touched Mommy & G-ma's frugal sensibilities! We girls walked around Downtown Disney and went through several shops. We really had fun in the Lego store. It was so cool!
We called Daddy and invited him to join us, so he drove down to meet us. He brought his camera and took lots of pictures, some of which I have included.
I wish I could include more, but I think
I would take up all of Blogspot's memory!!
I know what I'll do... When Daddy is back in town, I'll make sure he show mommy again how to do a slide show. Then, I'll put a slide show in here so I can have a few more of my favorite pictures loaded!
